Here at Learning2drive about 40% of our inquiries revolve around a magical "Guaranteed driving test pass course" that some intensive driving schools are offering students.
We thought it's time to put the facts right.
Students are getting hung up around the word guarantee many are thinking it's a cuddly warm word and that all they have to do is turn up and they will pass their driving test. Well you're wrong.
Some driving schools are advertising on their web sites, of having a 98% pass rate. This is untrue. What they will tell you when questioned is that it's not the driving test that has a 98% pass rate but only the students taking the theory test with them achieve a 98% pass rate. Even this we believe to be untrue.
The guarantee word is not used for your benefit it's used for the driving schools benefit to encourage you to book your course with them so they can earn money out of YOU.
What will this guarantee offer me if I fail the driving test?
The guarantee you normally receive is 2 hours extra time. The first hour is a warm up time the second hour is for the driving test to be taken. There is also normally a set amount of times they will do this normally twice and in a time limit before the guarantee expires. NOW IF YOU THINK A 2 HOUR GUARANTEE IS WORTH PAYING FOR GO FOR IT
What should I be asking?
The questions you should ask of YOURSELF before you ask a driving school if they will guarantee that you will pass the driving test are these.
Can YOU guarantee to the driving school that you will always listen to the driving instructor or examiner and do everything that is asked of you right?
Can YOU guarantee to yourself that you will control your driving in traffic and control other road users around you?
Can YOU guarantee to yourself to deal properly with the required manoeuvres that you have to do in the driving test?
Can YOU guarantee to yourself that you will have luck on your driving test and that nothing will go wrong for you?
If YOU can honestly give these guarantees then ANY driving school can give you a guarantee that you will pass the driving test first time.
So there is no real guarantee on passing the test?
No driving instructor/school can give a guarantee on what you will do on your driving test they can only guarantee what THEY would do if they were taking a driving test. Passing the driving test involves many things but at the end of the day it falls on you doing everything right and having luck when things turn against you.
What should I do?
Even the best students fail driving tests, but you don't have to. Learning to drive is no different than anything else. It involves YOU putting as much as possible in to your driving, the right amount of effort, time and money in to your learning so YOU can guarantee your own driving test pass.
Many students listen to friends or family telling them how little the amount of tuition they had to pass their test, they usually underestimate the number of hours they had. It is far better to take more tuition than you think you need than taking less just to save money. In the long run it will save you time and money.
Learning2drive does not offer guaranteed pass courses but does guarantee to do everything possible to make you the best driver that you can be so you can achieve what you are looking for, the life changing effect of passing your driving test.
